To audition, here is what you’ll need to do:

1. Watch our website, or socials, for upcoming audition information, including links to the audition packet and sign-ups.

2. When it becomes available, please review the audition packet thoroughly. The content of the packet will help you decide if you would like to become a cast member of this show. It contains detailed information such as: the show summary, overview of the rehearsal and performance schedule, fees, audition information, time commitment, expectations, cast of characters, audition sides (lines), and more.

3. If you would like to be a cast member of this show, (we hope that you do!) please sign up for a 40-minute audition time slot. There are usually about 7 people in each time slot.

4. Complete the Actor Application. You may want to prepare a resume and/or a photo of yourself to attach to this application.

5. Prepare monologues from the audition packet to perform at audition. If auditioning for a musical, please prepare as directed in the audition packet.

6. Add the audition date to your calendar. Please be aware that call-backs are typically held the during the week after audition and are only needed for a few roles.

7. Encourage a friend or family member to audition or to consider helping with the tech crew! There are many opportunities to be involved with our shows: set building/painting, props, costumes, stage make-up and hair, ushering, ticket sales, and more. As a community theater, we need to fill many volunteer spots for each show. Please join us!

Community theater is truly a team effort!

You don’t need to be onstage to be a part of Shining Light Theater!

There are many ways to become involved in Shining Light Theater! We depend on the help of volunteers to make our shows run smoothly and successfully, and to help the theater company grow. Depending on your experience, skillset, interest, and availability, please consider helping in these volunteer opportunities:

• Set building and painting
• Gathering props and set pieces, and decorating the set
• Tech Crew: lights, sound, and stagehands
• Backstage: sewing or mending costumes, organizing and ironing, helping with stage make-up and hair
• Front of House: greeters, ushers, tickets sales, concession sales
• Assisting with other tasks, such as: photography, videography, hanging posters to advertise our shows, finding business partners to provide sponsorship gifts to SLT, and much more!
• Choreographers and Music Directors – we may have non-volunteer opportunities for future shows – please inquire if you are interested!
• Certified Public Accountant or legal counsel – to offer advice to our Board of Directors if needed throughout the year
• Prayer Warriors who will pray for Shining Light Theater throughout the year individually, and/or with a group before each performance
